Friday 5: Bingeworthy TV Shows

Motherhood is trying to limit screen time for your children while trying to binge watch an entire season of a show after they are in bed. There are about a million different streaming services, with new shows coming out all the time! For this week’s Friday 5 we are keeping it casual and sharing our 5 favorite bingeworthy TV shows!

The Millennimoms’ Favorite Bingeworthy TV Shows

Chloe’s 5

  1. The Last Man On Earth– I just finished this entire series quicker than I’d like to admit. This show is a great pandemic binge, as it is about a deadly virus that wipes out most of the Earth’s population in 2020. It is especially funny to watch when you realize it was done airing before the pandemic even started. I am hoping by some miracle this series will get revived in the near future, because the cliffhanger at the end of season 4 is just too much. We DESERVE closure!
  2. Spidey and his Amazing Friends– Would I really be a mom blogger if I didn’t admit to mostly watching children’s shows and movies?! My daughter is absolutely obsessed with watching this show and shooting her imaginary webs from her hands. Compared to other shows she likes, I really enjoy this one! Plus, the theme song is sung by Patrick Stump which gives me all of the middle school throwback feels.
  3. Survivor– I grew up watching Survivor with my family, and when I got married I forced my husband to watch with me so we could have a show we watched live every week. When quarantine hit in 2020, there was not a lot to do, so we decided to start on season 1. I was so happy to relive some of my favorite old Survivor memories (season 2! Survivor auction! Boston Rob!) but also to watch the 15ish seasons I had never seen. Survivor is probably my favorite show, and I am so excited for the next season that is coming up in March!
  4. Love is Blind– I am not actually super into trash tv but I saw there was a new season of Love is Blind and I was bored. I ended up watching all of the 5 episodes that are currently out. I think new episodes come out today & I am so excited! This show is so cringey but that’s why everyone loves it.
  5. How I Met Your Mother– I feel like this should just be a go-to show for everyone. Its hilarious, there are a ton of episodes, you don’t have to completely focus on the show to understand it (I love background noise). They even have a spin off, How I Met Your Father, now on Hulu, which is definitely not as good but does star Hilary Duff (so it’s good enough).

Taylor’s 5

  1. The Righteous Gemstones: Season 2 is currently rolling out each week and delivering again and again. I grew up in the bible belt so this show is funny to me for so many reasons from the mega church to the thick accents, I find myself laughing out loud at every other line. I love all the characters but Judy is my absolute favorite.
  2. The Morning Show: This show is so well done. It can be a hard one to watch given the subject matter. You can’t beat the cast – Jennifer Anniston, Reese Witherspoon, and Steve Carell – just to mention a few. It’s entertaining and touches on some really important societal changes we’re currently seeing post-Me Too.
  3. Veep: I have watched this show from start to finish twice. Everything about this show is funny. You can’t go wrong with anything Julia Louis-Dreyfus is in and this is definitely my favorite character of her’s. Politics can be a challenging topic but they nail it making it funny no matter your political affiliation.
  4. Parks and Recreation: An oldie but a goodie! I have lost count of how many times my husband and I have watched this show. There’s endless references that are familiar to so many from – Treat Yo’ Self and Little Sebastian to Garry/Jerry/Larry/Terry. Whenever I feel like I need a lighthearted pick me up, Parks & Rec is what I’ll turn on.
  5. The Circle: I am a sucker for good reality meets game show and The Circle is exactly that. It’s like Catfish meets Big Brother. I love the energy each contestant brings whether they are real on their profile or not. I am cheering each of them on as they navigate how to become the most popular without getting hated or worse, blocked.
