How to Store 4moms mamaRoo (Without the Original Box)

Let’s be real, the mamaRoo was one of the first items I excitedly added to my registry when I found out I was pregnant. I have seen rave reviews over the years from friends and others online. If you’re reading this blog post, I likely don’t have to sell you on it and all its neat features. (Except for my one complaint – why doesn’t the mobile have a motor?!) You’re here to figure out where the heck to store this thing until your next baby comes along.

It wasn’t until Camden was 3 months old that it dawned on me that through my excitement to open this thing before his birth date, I had tossed that box as quickly as possible. This house had to be BABY READY. And that meant no unnecessary cardboard boxes… at least I thought it was unnecessary.

While we don’t know when we will be having our next baby, I do know I don’t have room for this thing to sit out especially since he has since outgrown it. According to the 4moms’s site, the mamaRoo can be used “from birth until your little one is 6 months old, or reaches the maximum weight limit of 25 pounds, or can sit up unassisted, or attempts to climb out, whichever comes first.”

First thing’s first, you’ll need a storage box. I bought this one from Target.

The interior dimensions are 30 5/8” x 16” x 18 7/8” making it a great size to fit this swing.*

*The base doesn’t lay FLAT in this box but it does fit at an angle. This worked for me and my storage situation. If you would be more content with the base sitting flat at the bottom, see if you can find a larger storage box.

I took out the toy balls and the insert to wash them before storing them in a ziplock bag. You could use a vacuum seal bag if you have that on hand.

Mid-way through unzipping the insert, it becomes necessary to remove the overhanging mobile. All you have to do is twist and pull up.

Then comes the GENIUS use of the auxiliary cord and really makes 4moms live up to its name for moms. All you have to do is push the auxiliary cord into the pins at the bottom of the swing and the top. It pops the side pieces right out!

If you don’t have the auxiliary cord, you can use a small screwdriver or Allen wrench to pop it out.

Next we repeat the above step to the front end of the C shaped metal bar. It slides the white piece right off.

Lastly, unhook the back end where you would adjust the seat recline to slide the metal bar all the way out.

Before putting all of the items in the box, I wiped it down to get rid of lingering dust.

I know we won’t be slamming this box around but if you wanted to be confident it won’t get banged up, you can use an old towel or bubble wrap to keep the base cushioned.

Easy enough! I love how simple it is to take apart unlike other large baby items. And it’s just as simple to put it BACK together when we pull it out again for baby #2!

Hope this helps!
