Review: Tonies

Like so many other parents pre-children, I always swore I wouldn’t stick my kid in front of an iPad for entertainment. That being said, I quickly found out that it’s nearly impossible to get anything of value done without just a little bit of screen time. With screen time came guilt (for me anyway)… is she watching too many shows? Is she turning into a Cocomelon zombie? Needless to say, when I heard about Tonies I was VERY optimistic that this was exactly what I needed in my family’s life!

My daughter’s great grandmother introduced us to Tonies. She “saw it on TV and just HAD to get it for Elli!” We picked out the pink Toniebox and went with Peppa Pig, Elsa, Winnie the Pooh, and a Fairy Creative Tonie for our choice of Tonies. The Toniebox is a super easy to use soft speaker box (my daughter is 2 and has no problem using it). The Tonies are little magnetic characters that have around 30-60 minutes of songs and/or stories on them. You simply pop one of the Tonies on top of the Toniebox, and the stories and music begin! The Creative Tonies are a little different, you can actually record your own audio for up to 90 minutes! We plan to record a few of our family members reading my daughter’s favorite books to her.

Listening to her Peppa Pig Tonie while she plays with her Play-doh!

When I tell you my daughter couldn’t care less about screen time when her Tonies are playing, I mean it! She loves listening to the stories and singing along with the songs! She dances around her room while the Elsa Tonie is playing all of her favorite songs from Frozen. It definitely has helped to keep her entertained (without a screen!) and allows me to get some errands done around the house. Bonus perk: my daughter plays with her Tonies like they are action figures, she carries them around everywhere!

So, if it wasn’t already obvious, we LOVE this product! I absolutely recommend it to anyone wanting to cut back on the screen time for their littles. I love that my daughter can color or play with other toys and still listen to her stories and songs at the same time.

Have you heard of Tonies? Which Tonies would your little ones like the most? Let me know in the comments! We want to add Skye from Paw Patrol & Minnie Mouse to our collection next, whenever they come back in stock!
